This is the first time a supermodel will be the subject of a V&A retrospective, but that title seems to fall short – historical icon fits Campbell better. She’s expanded from fashion to philanthropy, film production, activism, and art direction, which are all set to be included. We’ll see a different side of picture-perfect Naomi, one that joined the Black Girls Coalition in 1989, campaigns for more diversity on the catwalk, and was heavily inspired by Nelson Mandela.

Retrospective is just as small a label as Supermodel; the mononymous icon still makes headlines with her style, is a runway regular, and just designed a collection for Pretty Little Thing.

With ‘Naomi’, 100 carefully curated looks and a photography installation will take us on a journey through her closet— and fashion history. The garments featured are from Campbell’s personal collection and archive pieces loaned by designers. The exhibition will see an unprecedented close involvement from the subject herself, who said she’s “honoured to be asked by the V&A to share my life in clothes with the world”.

Curator Sonnet Stanfill has said that this overwhelmingly extensive collection is not the main challenge, but rather that they could be adding looks right “up until the day before the exhibition”. But even some stars shine brighter than others, and the looks below? They’re sure to be included. after all, they’re as close to the sun as fashion moments get.

1993

This lilac Chanel suit she wore on the October 1993 runway is one of the only looks confirmed by the V&A. The exhibition will follow the current retrospective dedicated to Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel, so this proves to be a seamless transition.

2019

Her 2019 Met Gala dress by Valentino is the second confirmed look, which makes sense given that it’s the same year Campbell won the Fashion Icon of the Year Award.

1991

The exhibition will give us an insider look at her life, as told from Naomi’s voice. With this deeply personal nature, we expect to see plenty of Azzedine Alaïa, whom she called Papa and had a father-daughter relationship with. This mesh leopard catsuit with ruffle cuffs from Autumn/Winter 1991 was one of her most iconic runway moments; signature smirk included.

1991

A Versace look from the Versace muse will undoubtedly make an appearance. Not only was designer Gianni Versace a dear friend of Naomi but also the creator of the supermodel status. In this spring/summer 1991 dress, she delivered the soon-to-be signature strut that made her one of the 90s original supermodels alongside the likes of Claudia Schiffer and Cindy Crawford. The Big Five remain just as historically significant as they were in their heyday too: Apple TV+ just released a documentary about them, Vogue reunited the girl group for this year’s September issue, and they closed the Vogue World London event hand-in-hand.

1999

One of the most iconic duos of the 90s, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell’s friendship reigned the decade while becoming the faces of a generation. They loved partying, champagne, and shimmering Versace dresses (‘wagons’ are their self-assigned nicknames for each other because it means drunk in Irish), so this look from the brand’s Diamonds are Forever event will hopefully be included. The mini dress shows off Campbell’s fashion prowess, with her wearing the sparkly butterflies before it became a Y2K trend.

1993

The supermodel’s fall in 12-inch platforms during the Vivienne Westwood 1993 show is one of the most defining moments of her career. Naomi’s self-deprecating smile post-stumble grazed the cover of magazines for weeks after, and the flounce of the boa right after was what enamored the world with her. The supermodel has confessed that some designers even ask her to recreate the fall. In an interview with Westwood, she said: “A couple of people, designers, asked me if I would fall for them. And I was like, ‘Why would you want me to fall unnecessarily?!’ ‘Press! The press that you got!’ But it wasn’t planned!”.

1997

Attending the 1997 MTV Music Video Awards, Naomi wore ’The Paris Hilton Dress’ years before the hotel heiress ever did. This sparkly mini dress belongs to her personal Versace collection, a keepsake that for her represents a fond memory, but for the world? It’s fashion history. Alongside this getup, curator Stanfill has confirmed we should expect a myriad of dresses, including designs from Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano, Karl Lagerfeld, and Virgil Abloh.

1998

In head-to-toe Louis Vuitton, this look shows the more casual style of Naomi (barring the private jet in the background) as she arrived in Paris for the season. From the sunglasses to the massive logomania bags, this look oozes 90s.

1995

Another one of the most significant moments from her runway career, Naomi showcased her feral energy for Thierry Mugler’s autumn/winter 1995 show. This wasn’t just a walk through an elevated platform, it was a performance that showed the difference between model and supermodel.

2023

In her most recent runway moment (for now), Campbell closed Sarah Burton’s last show for Alexander McQueen during the Spring Summer 2024 season in Paris. A longtime collaborator of the brand and dear friend of Burton, this proved to be an emotional moment for not only her but the fashion industry as a whole.

However, this stunning look is only scratching the surface of Alejandre’s talent. He’s worked with huge names, such as Zendaya, Naomi Campbell and Lil Nas X. His intricate use of shapes and other-worldly designs make for eye-catching makeup looks, unlike anything we’ve seen before. He has a much more holistic, experimental approach to his designs, resulting in extraordinarily unique looks.

He never sticks to just one style and is constantly trying new things with his techniques and creations; experimenting with using face jewellery, chrome makeup, metallic makeup and has sometimes even gone for a more stripped-down approach, showing incredible versatility in his talent as a makeup artist. Alejandre uses face jewels to create patterns on the face that makeup alone can’t create. The 3D effect of the jewels adds a sense of ethereal beauty. He uses chrome and metallic makeup to accentuate the high points of his models’ faces and bodies, precisely analysing their natural features and selecting the perfect products to emphasise the desirable parts of their faces.

A lot of his looks feature some sort of wing on the eye, but he takes that as a starting point to create something so much more wonderful and different. A look he did on model Ashara, featured a pink highlight on the cheekbone, and browbone, and a purple highlight on her arm. The cherry on top was the golden graphic liner design which perfectly complemented the dark red lip.

These types of looks are slowly but surely making their way into mainstream media, with so many beauty influencers having a go at these eccentric looks. Diego Godoy (@beautybydiego on TikTok) shared a video of her recreating an extraordinary, butterfly-themed look by Alejandre on singer-songwriter Kali Uchis. Godoy perfectly captured the bright red embellishments around the eyes from the original look while also adding her own touch with the butterfly wings on her brows.

One of Alejandre’s more daring looks utilises blue glitter on the higher points of the face, red warm-toned contour for the lower points and a striking black zig-zag liner look to top it all off. This astounding, androgynous look seems reminiscent of the 1970s glam rock era, when David Bowie continuously reinvented himself, showing the world his flamboyant makeup and style.

His use of shadows and light accentuates some very unusual features, which almost seem to contort his models’ face shapes while still flattering them. For example, in one of his outstanding looks, he chose to put the focus on the centre of the model’s forehead, by blending out the green and red shades in a circular shape around the area. This was enhanced by the eye makeup, designed to look like spider legs running down each side of the face.

Phoebe Duverger (@phoebeduverger in TikTok) tried out one of Alejandre’s looks that was posted to his Instagram, featuring a unique take on a bold, smokey black wing.

Another jaw-dropping look by the 27-year-old makeup artist featured gold ornamentation across the cheeks, nose and jawline with a natural base. These types of looks have put forward the notion that makeup looks can be created from so much more than just cosmetic products. Simple jewels and embellishments can make a look complete without the help of foundation and concealer. His work goes to show how imaginative makeup can be. Classic and basic makeup looks are slowly fading out of the spotlight, and now comes the era of expressing individuality through makeup. Alejandre is one of the main pioneers of this type of approach to makeup.

Whether this type of makeup is your thing or not, it’s hard to deny the sheer talent of Raoul Alejandre. He’s brought something new and fresh to the beauty world and we can’t wait to see his work flourish even further. Paco Rabanne

Paris Fashion Week marked design house Paco Rabanne’s return to the runway since the passing of the founder himself. Paco Rabanne passed away just last month, making this show a particularly emotional one, as this show honoured his work and contributions to the industry. Julien Dossena decided to pay homage to the late designer by focusing on his friendship with Salvador Dali. This meant that the show featured an array of dresses with Dali’s paintings printed on them as well as some of his extravagant jewellery. 

While this may make it seem like a collection that honoured Salvador Dali more than Paco Rabanne, this was not the case. The show was unapologetically Paco, the sparkling metallic chainmail looks that have become synonymous with the brand closed the show, accentuating the late designers continuing influence on the industry. The sparkling archival looks reminded us of Paco Rabanne’s innovative designs and trademark looks, leaving the audience with this as their final thoughts from the collection.

Acne Studios

Acne Studios took the distressed look to a whole new level in their mystical show. The enchanted forest set the stage for a collection that celebrated the natural world and particularly Jonny Johansson’s childhood in Sweden. The distressed wool and crochet knits played into this natural influence along with the neutral colour palette. The ultimate manifestation of this theme came to light in the various leaf-like dresses that took to the catwalk, bringing the Swedish forest to the runway.

These natural elements and the mystical set up created a jarring juxtaposition with the distressed, almost-apocalyptic looks. The combination of these elements served to create a natural and earthy aesthetic that was far removed from the highly technological looks that we have been seeing as of late. One interesting way that this came to light was through the use of the body as a canvas, which Johansson stated was “a way to make them become a window onto nature”.

Hodakova

Hodakova’s “Conventional Collection 112303” was inspired by a humble household object, the spoon. Whether they were covering bags, dresses or creating the cups on bralettes the kitchen utensils were everywhere. Inspired by the Swedish folktale Nail Soup that tells the story of a (you guessed it) soup made from a nail, the collection celebrated ingenuity. In addition to spoons, fabric spikes covered punk-inspired skirts and dresses in a nail-like fashion.

Some of the non-spoon related looks featured elaborate tulle, sheer fabrics and intricate silhouettes. There were examples of exceptional tailoring as sleek suits took to the runway. And finally, the collection, of course, did not come without HODAKOVA’s signature buckle bags that have taken the fashion world by storm. 

Rick Owens

Rick Owens is known for the outrageous; this collection was no exception. From metallic pink puffers to sleek waist high leg slits, we saw it all in what can only be described as a maximalists’ dream. Each model took to the runway in sky-high platform boots that sagged around the leg in the way a loose-fitted trouser would; a shoe that we believe will be everywhere this Autumn/Winter. The predominantly black collection heavily played with textures and proportions creating extravagant silhouettes and shapes in the absence of colour.

While most of the looks were black, Owens injected some colour through the metallic pink and green looks in the collection that were anything but subtle. Refusing to sacrifice the playful and experimental aspects of these looks in the pursuit of colour, Rick Owens just decided to do it all. The pink sequin donut-like garments stole the show, and we cannot wait to see which celebrity is brave enough to wear one of these looks on the red carpet.

Coperni

Coperni, always the master of a viral moment. The designer that brought us the iconic spray on dress, a moment that won Bella Hadid Model of the Year at the British Fashion Awards, has created yet another talkable moment. The show was inspired by Jean de la Fontaine’s fable ‘The Wolf and the Lamb’ fable, Coperni’s Instagram explained:

“Unlike the original fable written in the 17th century, which raises questions relating to the balance of power between the human groups that make up society, Coperni reinterprets the story and transposes it to the year of 2023 with a positive vision of the future.
The show presents Coperni’s vision which is that there is neither a dominant nor a dominated, but that mankind and machine can live in harmony.”

This inspiration was visible in the designs through the painted landscapes on jackets and the white fluffy pieces that likened the models to sheep. All in all, the collection placed a modern and urban twist on the pastoral tale. 

Even though the show featured models such as Adut Akech and Lila Moss, the star of the show was none other than Spot (or multiple Spots) the robotic dog. The Boston Dynamics robots took to the runway as aids in the storytelling, but they soon stole the show as one Spot interacted with model Rianne Van Rompaey. This particular Spot had an elongated robotic arm (or neck) that allowed the two to lock eyes before Spot began to undress the model, removing the thick blanket that wrapped around her shoulders and handing it back to her.

While critics may argue that this show along with the last were dependant on gimmicks, more concerned with going viral on social media than the clothes at hand, we feel that these moments at shows are integral in Coperni’s exploration of technology within both fashion and modern life. As Coperni said that this was a more relaxed moment following on from the magic of their spray on dress last season, we are very excited to see what they do next.

Ester Manas

Inspired by her upcoming wedding to Balthazar Delepierre, Ester Manas created a collection for the cool bride. The show took place in a church and was soundtracked by some of the most universally recognised love songs, a route that the couple will not be taking at their own wedding. The looks, however, were entirely non-traditional and non-conforming.

From two pieces to completely sheer gowns, these dresses were for the ‘it’ brides only. The diverse display of models seemed like the brides that you would be begging for a hen party invite from and you bet that we would be wearing one of the less bridal looks from the collection if we managed to bag an invite.

Valentino

If you’re going to take one thing away from the Valentino show, let it be this: Go and buy a tie. Ties have been popping up in the fashion girls’ wardrobes for a hot minute now, but they are about to experience the Pierpaolo Piccioli effect. The collection, aptly named ‘Black Tie’, utilised the accessory on every look in some capacity. Some were styled classically, with the black tie set against a white shirt under a blazer while others were dresses with faux shirt collars and ‘ties’ that connected to the dress’ bodice. Whether a conventional depiction of the tie or not, this collection singlehandedly proved the versatility of the accessory that has often been associated with the constraints of a work or school uniform. So, go buy a tie.

Zimmermann

19^th-Century Australian artist Rupert Bunny left Melbourne and settled in Paris when he married Jeanne Morel, a journey not dissimilar to Zimmermann’s. The Australian fashion house held its second show in Paris this season and drew on Bunny’s art as inspiration. The collection worked with the National Gallery of Victoria to incorporate the painter’s works into the looks through delicate prints and a romantic colour palette. Nicky Zimmermann explained: 

“For Fall I was inspired by the artwork of Rupert Bunny, an Australian artist from the turn of the last century. I was drawn to his use of colour and the romanticism of his work – the gentle and dreamy lifestyle scenes. There is a glow, warmth and optimism to his work that is really appealing to me.”

However, this is not where the melding of French and Australian fashion ends. The usual romantic eveningwear was prominent throughout the collection; however, this season featured a surprising guest, the humble denim jean. The delicate lace and florals that we are used to seeing from the design house were paired with loose fitting jeans in the perfect blending of the relaxed style we see in Australia and the romanticism of France. This collection served as a map of Zimmermann’s history as it honoured both its origin and current destination in one fell swoop.

Lanvin

A quick google search of Lanvin and you’re bound to be bombarded with praiseful phrases like ‘elegance’, ‘femininity’, and ‘modernity’- characteristics attributed to the brand by its founder: Jeanne Lanvin. The Paris 2022 ‘Illusion of Fashion’ collection embodied these qualities.

For his 2022 Paris Fashion Week show, Bruno Sialelli looked back to Jeanne Lanvin’s gracious garments to cultivate a 1920s Hollywood inspired evening wear range that transported us back to the brand’s origins as the first fashion house in France. If Lanvin’s Hollywood inspiration wasn’t evident enough through the crushed velvet suits and floor-length gowns, Sialelli began his show with an opening sequence that mimicked Warner Bro’s iconic opening scene as the Lanvin logo was projected on a black and white vintage graphic. Nostalgically, the end of the show was dominated by lace, a material used notoriously in old Hollywood and even more so by Jeanne Lanvin herself. Sialelli incorporated the sheer fabric into couture and abstract poofy silhouettes to create chic gowns.

Despite the old-fashioned garments, the show was modern in its ethos. A diverse range of models like Paloma Elsesser and America Gonzalez stole the show in floral gowns and exaggerated boxy blazers. The collection was an exuberant ode to Lanvin’s history of crafting captivating evening wear.

Hermes

Looking back to its equestrian roots, the Hermes show strayed from trends and fads, sticking to the classical luxury goods they know best.

The sound of soft, feminine musings whispered around the ill-lit setting as models cascaded the runway in traditional Hermes leather goods like structured purses and knee-high boots. Adding a sultry twist to the traditional collection was the frequent use of sheer fabrics. Model’s torsos and calves were exposed by see-through chiffon for a seductive take on high fashion.

Colour was largely omitted from the start of the show, as Hermes sent monochromatic black and white looks down the catwalk. Gradually subtle tones of sage green and cerulean entered the scene, taking the form of old-money flared collars and structured blazers.

Vivienne Westwood by Andreas Kronthaler

As weddings resume after the pandemic, designers are looking for wacky and wonderful ways to reinvent the traditional ivory clad bridal attire. For his FW22 Parisian Vivienne Westwood show, Andreas Kronthaler treated us to another bridal Bella Hadid moment but instead of a bouquet, the world-class model donned red pom-poms, sparkling tights, and a single rose to accessorise her veiled look. Even further from the traditional bride was Kronthaler’s black-veiled gown, reminiscent of sinister horror movie costumes like those in The Woman in Black. Kronthaler broke the mould of what is considered ‘normal’ bridal chic- tying the knot never looked so menacing.

Even more unconventional than his bridal couture was Kronthaler’s colour combinations. The designer paired eccentric colours like fluorescent pink and brown- tones rarely seen together- but somehow complemented each other marvellously. The rest of the collection focused on ruched and metallic material paired with heavy gold bling, likely a nod to Vivienne Westwood’s first-ever runway show ‘Pirates’ in 1981.

Elie Saab

When seeking evening wear that turns heads, Elie Saab’s excessively glamorous collections are always our first point of call. For his FW22 collection, the Lebanese designer created buoyant and light-hearted designs celebrating lady-like charm. Huge flower-shaped materials emerged from the shoulders of models while others sported slim-fitting jumpsuits submerged in shimmering glitter. Capes, abstract cut-outs defined by medusa style gold rims, and fluffy fur trims all added to the outrageously extra collection. One look that caught audience members like Therese H off- guard amongst the extravagant feminine pieces was a floor-length gown covered by a hoodie, toning down the OTT evening wear to add a touch of casual flair to the collection.

Balenciaga

In a statement released before the show, Balenciaga’s creative director, Demna Gvasalia, admitted that going forward with his ‘360 Degrees’ Paris Fashion Week show was not an easy decision following the current crisis in Ukraine. But, instead of cancelling the show and ‘giving in’, he dedicated his work to ‘fearlessness, resistance, and peace’ in support of those suffering.

The snowy setting of the show was possibly Balenciaga’s finest set choice yet (even topping their 2019 tunnel scene). Audience members like Kim Kardashian perched on seats covered with the Ukraine flag behind a screen that showcased models trudging through synthetic snow and wind- a clever representation of triumph and resistance.

The garments remained faithful to Balenciaga’s fashion ethos of creating modern minimalist pieces through tight-fitting black dresses, chunky gold accessories, and baggy black boots with the iconic ultra-pointed Balenciaga toe. Juxtaposing the glamour of the show was the purses that mimicked the shape of a trash bag, a possible reference to the revolutionary ‘sack dress’ which elevated the brand’s popularity in the 20th century. The show ended with monochromatic blue and yellow looks as a final act of support towards Ukraine; ending the avalanche of modernist glamour with a heartfelt message.

Valentino

Pink. It isn’t just a colour, nor a mere pretty hue. It is an expression, an art form, a vision of femininity, power, and love- pink is an attitude. Nobody has recognised the shade’s ability to inspire more than Pierpaolo Piccioli at his Paris Fashion Week show. To cultivate the message behind the collection, the iconic fashion house collaborated with artist Douglas Coupland to create an identity for the collection based on quotes like ‘minimalists are hoarding space’, demonstrating the collection’s message to go pink or go home.

Fashion industry experts like Leonie Hanne perched on the front row besides new faces of the brand like Zendaya, who dressed in a monochromatic look from Valentino’s new collection. Opening the show with a message from the designer, Piccioli addressed the current global crisis, deeming that ‘love is the answer, always’. The designer’s voice faded to the sound of romance ballads by Yazoo drifting around the vivid scene to reiterate the show’s message of love. Models trickled onto the flamingo runway wearing monochromatic looks, Piccioli incorporated the intrepid colour onto traditional Valentino silhouettes like poofy skirts and strong blazers before switching to all-black looks, juxtaposing the playful hue with a sprinkle of Valentino drama.

The show was closed by Kristen Mcmenamy in a flowing chiffon gown with a walk exuding as much power as the garment itself. Models assembled back onto the scene to create a chill-inducing army of pink; a true vision of solidarity in a time so bleak.

Each brand brings its own values to the forefront of their campaign, whether a celebration of Hollywood icons or the importance of family, designers celebrate what it means to wear their garments in a personal way, in real-time, outside of the glamour of the runway.

Gucci Love Parade

Inspired by old cinematography, Alessandro Michele’s Love Parade Campaign was a series of timeless panache. Movie icons like Jared Leto and Miley Cyrus featured in old Hollywood art-deco glam as they indulged in the treats of an upmarket restaurant.

While the brand is no novice at dressing the biggest of stars- after clothing icons from Madonna to Kate Moss- this campaign had an impressive mix of A-listers. The most unsuspecting star to make an appearance in the campaign was rapper Snoop Dog who dined in a satin mint suit, cowboy hat, and classic Gucci shades.

Valentino RendezVous

When she’s not busy playing our favourite Euphoria character, Zendaya is out on the streets of LA in a colourful array of flowing gowns for Valentino’s RendezVous Campaign.

Creative Director Pier Paolo Piccioli chose to celebrate vivid and rich colour, reflecting the bright and refreshing energy of spring. Piccioli dressed the actress in contemporary daywear in vibrant yellow and blue primary shades. The star stormed the streets as the campaign is projected near iconic landmarks like the London eye, wearing flowing capes and bold Valentino gowns.

Etro Empire of Freedom

Exploring the energy of youth, Etro’s photographer Mario Sorrenti captured models in the setting of a home, to celebrate common space and the sense of family which are ‘the founding values of Etro.’

Using psychedelic 80s- style prints and bright hues of green and yellow, the campaign celebrates eclecticism and retro styles as models wear floral jeans and button-up shirts on the floor of a nostalgic homely setting.

Talking to Vogue, the brands creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli said:

‘Our couture shows are always the perfect field to experiment with some very extravagant, bold and memorable make-up looks. The freedom we have in that case is, of course, linked to the nature of couture itself. I can be free with my imagination, having the most powerful tools to express that, and I wanted to give the same feeling to our beauty line. This is also the reason why you will find products that have a super versatile attitude.’

The campaign is set to feature 16 models and non-models as they strive to make the line as inclusive to all ages, sexes and cultures. So expect 40 foundations, 50 lip colours and a range of eye and face products. To put the cherry on the proverbial cake, they have even adapted their SS17 bag into a teeny cosmetics clutch, only big enough to house their satin face powder and mini lipstick tube. There goes our monthly wage.

Valentino aren’t entirely unfamiliar with the cosmetics industry. Last year they dropped a campaign for scent Voce Viva with couture-queen Lady Gaga as the face and are known for a plethora of delightful scents preceding this. In fact, they are one of the last of the big fashion powerhouses to dip their toe in the cosmetic world. Hermes and Gucci have recently taken the plunge in the last couple of years – with Gucci selling over a million lipsticks in the month after it release in 2019. Impressive.

All the Valentino Beauty makeup collection product details will be revealed on May 31, 2021, at Selfridges Department Store in London.

2020 fashion has been full of surprises from the emerging new to the re-emerging old. The collections showcased have been completely contemporary and nowhere is this more apparent than in 2020’s net obsession. From Off-white to Burberry, netting was everywhere on the 2020 runway in a series of designs that are startlingly different showcasing both the versatility of the fabric and the innovation of the designer’s collections. The look has embodied different iterations, from net draperies undercoats, fishnet gloves, nettops, and dresses that are straight out of a 90s thrift store. The range of the looks is profound, going from elegant to sensual.

Arguably one of the best versions of the trend was by Off-white whose fall 2020 ready to wear collection saw Virgil Abloh back after taking time out the previous season. The collection was comprehensive chic with a clear familiarity in the collections grungier pieces. The collection included a stunning fishnet dress that was worn over a bare chest and white trousers. The ends of the fishnet drapery were coated in bright pink and the look was accompanied by an ankle-length trench coat that had one sleeve in bright pink. The look Off-white showed was equal parts illustrious, edgy and creative, the kind that streetwear fanatics would die for.

Louis Vuitton and Maison Margiela also took on the look in designs that embody a new age of grunge. The Louis Vuitton look gives the impression of one having tumbled out of a 90s thrift store pairing fishnet with a bright red triangle bra and blue top with black vinyl trousers. Maison Margiela reflects edge, pairing a gothic net dress with a tartan scarf. Each look would go perfectly with cheap beer and a Nirvana concert.

Burberry also showcased embellished fishnet gloves, which were long length and black and embellished with crystals. Gloves have seen a resurgence on the 2020 runway, and Burberry’s take on the look screams modernity. Ports also took on the trend, pairing pantsuits with fishnet underpinnings.

While netting may be associated with grunge and edgy streetwear, Gabriela Hearst and Valentino showed that there is a range in this fabric in designs that are as ballroom as they are gothic. Gabriela Hearst also showcased fishnets but in a highly different way, the look reimagined evening wear with a jumpsuit with a bustier top accompanied by a draped black fishnet detail. The detailing hung off the shoulder and then ran down the forearm, with the netting draping around the rest of the clothing. Hearst took a classic look and intertwined it with a gothic and punk edge. Valentino took a similar approach reflecting that fishnet is not just for the nineties, reimagining it with an elegant spin. 2020’s net obsession is a re-imagination of elegance with a nod to nostalgia in a collection of looks that are as far-reaching in their style as they are incredibly cool. It would be insane not to.
