Love is a universal feeling which can inspire and unite people. It is a timeless power that can make us dream, hope, and feel special. It’s never too late or too early to celebrate love. This is the principle behind Valentino’s late announced collection which takes the chance to honour the Chinese Valentine’s Day, ‘Qixi’.

‘VLoveTN’ is the new capsule collection for both women and men inspired by love and romance presented by Maison Valentino. Focused on a romantic aesthetic, the collection is characterised by versatile garments and accessories that feature a palette of white, red and black, as well as a predominant presence of hearts.

Valentino transforms the iconic logo ‘VLTN’ in a message of love, expressing its values in a broad range of clothing: from shirts, oversized sweaters, and basic cotton t-shirts, the altered logo makes its appearance as a large red heart. The theme is similar to the accessories, with studded bracelets and heart-shaped earrings in golden metal and crystals.

For the handbags, the tones are naturally focused on white, black, and red – typical of both the festivity and Valentino – with the presence of heart studs that recall the bracelets. This is accentuated on the bright red heart-shaped shoulder bag, as part of the limited edition. The pattern is repeated on sneakers and ankle boots that complete the ensemble.

By the casual and informal design, we can understand that VLoveTN is a street style collection that, regardless, retains its sentimental connotation and communicates it through its silhouettes. In each and every detail present in the collection, love is the only true protagonist that can bring joy to the person wearing it.

Unlike the original date of the Chinese festival, set for August the 25th, the capsule collection is already available online and in boutiques.

The coffee date is best for a busy day to day schedule and is the safest bet for a first date. This date includes a lot of conversation. If you are not the most talkative person this date is not for you. The date is during the day which makes it more casual and coffee shop vibes are very chill so hopefully, it will put you at ease when meeting your date. It can also be as short or as long as you want. If you are not too sure of your date, we have all been there, coffee shops are very public, and you can always pretend you’re on your lunch break to cut it short.

The Dinner Date

The Dinner date although the oldest and most traditional is probably the worst choice for a first date. They are really intense and awkward. The idea of someone watching you eat while talking with their mouth full is a huge turn off, and there’s always the risk of garlicky breath! For this, we offer the alternative of drinks which is a crowd favourite. Going for a drink in a trendy bar creates a relaxing environment for socialising.

The Activity Date

The activity date is where you both decide to do an activity like bowling or mini-golf. The activity date although less intense than the dinner date is riskier because the point is to have fun. If the date is not fun, unlike the coffee date there is no escape. The choice of activity is also important because you want to be creative but not too creative because no one is trying to be rock climbing, hiking or any strenuous activities that do not match your fitness capabilities, true story.

General advice for dating and dates

Dating should be fun and while not every date is going to end with the potential for marriage, it is a good experience and the more dates you endure, the more comfortable you’ll be. It’s easy to go overboard and stalk your date beforehand, finding out all sorts of information on them (ex-girlfriends, their second cousin’s dog’s name, where their auntie went on holiday; that sort of thing) but you should limit your stalking and go on your date with a clear, untainted view of them, finding out for yourself rather than basing them purely on their online self. Go in with an open mind! A big no-no on a first date is talking extensively about your exes, and definitely don’t compare your date to them. Asking about why their last relationship didn’t work out, or how long they’ve been single is fine, but don’t pester them with finding out their ex’s full name, Instagram handle etc just so you can stalk them afterwards and compare yourself to them.

When dating, honesty is key. Don’t make up lies about your job or whether you still live with your parents. You never want to start something, that has potential, with lies that will eventually unravel. Don’t try and be someone you’re not, it’s a lot harder to keep up with, so be yourself and if they don’t like it, they’re clearly not worth your time anyway. Most importantly, have fun. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself or your date. Bad dates make for great stories, so, embrace them. However, if you’re new to dating and the idea of it frightens you, it can be helpful to tell a friend who you’re going to meet and where so that in case anything happens and you need help, they’ll know where you are. Also, check in with them every hour or so while on the date to let them know you’re okay. This is why making sure your date is in a public place is important, so that there is always someone to help you get out of a sticky situation!

Again ICONIC. This lipstick was first introduced in 1952, and 68 years on it’s still a bestseller! In all fairness, it probably is more suited to a fairer complexion, but man is this glossy for a cream formula.

Now, in my opinion, this is probably all round the best choice here. Not only does this lipstick include honey nectar which leaves such a sensuous finish, but it was tested and proved to work on 50 different skin tones! So you just know it will look sickening on you.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream ‘Amsterdam’ £6

So, I have always been a huge fan of NYX lips; the price is insane and the product really compares to the higher end brands. This is just another example, a velvety smooth lightweight and creamy formula with a stunning colour…no wonder it’s such a fan fav.

E.L.F Matte Lip Color ‘Rich Red’ £4.50

I mean for £4.50 you really don’t have an excuse to not try this one out! I’ve spent more on freaking chocolate bars. Not only is it cheap as chips, but it includes vitamins A, C and E which is going to give you a healthy moisturised matte lip. It’s also super easy to apply as it’s basically a small crayon applicator.

Better get down there and grab what you have your eyes on before they’re gone! This totally proves that you do not need to splash out for a good lip product (although luxury is luxury right..?).

For all the times your makeup starts running and for all the reasons, sex should not be one of them. The mascara running red lipstick smudged look is not the look to go for during those intimate moments so here are a few products that keep your face on when everything comes off.

Base:

Start the base with the fantastic Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer £17. Oil-free and waterproof, not to mention makes your skin crazy smooth and silky to apply the rest of your make-up on; trust me your skin isn’t going anywhere with this bad boy. Estée Lauder Double Wear Foundation £34 is such an iconic waterproof base, we all know about its sweat-proof, oil proof, waterproof, life-proof properties. It’s a liquid to powder formula so it dries matte to the point where you don’t even really need a powder, and the coverage is just to die for it’s the perfect in-between medium and full coverage. Next, try Smashbox Studio Skin 24hr Waterproof Concealer £20. I mean I don’t need to say much more, the name kind of sells itself…it works.

Now one thing which you never really think could be waterproof is bronzer, think again! IT Cosmetics Ombre Radiance Bronzer £25 is such a fantastic bronzer and it won’t budge after the dirty deed. It has such a naturally pretty warmth to it and also has something called ‘Drops of Light Technology’ which basically means it will treat and nourish the skin while it imparts a seamless, sun-kissed glow.

To set the skin and lock all that into place (light it needs locking anymore) the famous and iconic Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray £24 is always a winner, you really can’t go wrong I mean this stuff is like cement.

Eyes:

Eyes can be a tricky one with eyeshadow, but Nudestix Magnetic Nude Glimmers are so great, they come in 3 shades and as well as being waterproof (obvs at this point) the gel can be layered up to create more and more luminosity and glow to the eyes; they also can be used to highlight the cheekbones too for some extra glitter. A great budge -roof eyeliner is the Inglot Black Gel Liner £14 which, to be honest, if you compare to some other gel liners it’s actually super cheap and so worth it in my opinion. Pair that with Dior Diorshow Waterproof Mascara £27, which instantly thickens and lengths your lashes with one sweep from the brush.

Finish the look off with Beauty Bakerie Matte Lip Whip £19. I mean these lip formulas are so waterproof that they have their own remover just for this product! They have incredible pigment and glide on so smooth you’ll think its butter.

When you’ve tried all these products gems your face will be so sex proof you’ll look better after than before!

So, sweetie…whether you have a date or not, V Day is a big event in the make-up calendar; Partner or no partner, treat yourself! The biggest trend at the minute in the beauty world has just got to be beautiful and glowy skin, you know like in every single Charlotte Tilbury advert where all the models look like angels with beautiful glowy, well glowy everything! And you instantly want to do whatever it takes to look like that?! We’ve got you covered. Check out our Must-Haves for V Day below. Yo’ welcome.

Base

1). We’re going to start this at the very beginning with your primer; Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base Moisturiser & Primer £44.50 for 50ml. An absolute beauty this one is – it works as a moisturiser and primer and is so unbelievably nourishing on the skin, not to mention it will keep your make-up dewy and on your skin all day.

2). Next, layer on the iconic Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation £42, an oil-free, lightweight and so-silky-you-could-die foundation. Super buildable and applies seamless, no wonder this is the Artist’s Choice 10 years in a row!

3). A winner as always is YSL Touche Eclat High Coverage Concealer £26; So, this isn’t the regular one everyone has dribbled over for years, that one was actually marketed as just a highlighter whereas this one is predominantly a high coverage concealer. You still get the beautiful luminosity of the OG Touche, but also a weightless and long wear concealer… really struggling to find a flaw here.

4). If that wasn’t illuminating enough for you so far, I’ve only just begun! Add even more glow with the YSL Touche Eclat Shimmer Stick £27. Cream/liquid products are really going to make your cheeks extra dewy as they catch the light super easily. This stick highlight comes in 5 different shades, my fav being the gorgeous champagne ‘Light Gold’, I mean just go into a store and swatch this on your hand it genuinely might be the prettiest thing I have ever seen. (Prove me wrong, I dare you!!) I mean the actual product has all the good stuff: easy to blend, super creamy and a lightweight texture. TBH, if you like a shimmery bronzer, you can easily use a darker shade to add some warmth to your skin.

5). Totally changes the game: NARS Orgasm Liquid Blush £25. I mean NARS’ ‘Orgasm’ range is iconic, we all know and adore it…this is just in a lightweight liquid form so it’s just another staple to add to the dewy trend.

6). Lastly for the base, slap on that Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray £24 to make sure your base doesn’t move all day…whatever your activity is. I’ve heard great things about this setting spray being 100% sex-proof; you can be the judge of that.

Eyes and Lips

1). Keeping with this gorgeous healthy glowy skin trend, Charlotte Tilbury Bigger Brighter Eyes Palette ‘Exagger-Eyes’ £40. OK, I know you’re thinking it’s a little pricey for 4 shadows, but honey if you just knew what these bad boys were capable of! All you have to do is watch one of those CT adverts I was talking about. Nuff said. I mean they’re just everything: buttery, pigmented, the product itself is just such amazing quality it’s insane! You’ll thank me.

2). The current brow trend is messy, undone and natural; easy as pie, brush up your brows with the tinted Benefit Cosmetics Gimmie Brow+ £22.50 for a full and put together bro duo that takes literally seconds.

3). You need to keep them hooked on your eyes…the only way is to add a sultry liner on your waterline. A black liner on the waterline is so sexy it really draws you to the eyes; even I give myself a double-take when I whack some on. My fav is Estee Lauder Double Wear Waterproof Eyeliner ‘Noir’ £19, just glides on the eyes so easily and stays all day. Even great for contact wearers like myself.

4). To finish the eyes off, add some famous Too Faced Better Than Sex Waterproof Mascara £22 (TBH if your flying solo this V day, this mascara is supposedly better than sex, and if you have a partner, you’re going to need that waterproof one…win win). Volumizing without being too clumpy, and it deff won’t transfer on your lids or under eye.

5). Last but certainly not least, chuck on some Charlotte Tilbury Lipstick ‘Glowing Jen’ £28. This was actually named after Jennifer Aniston and I believe a portion of the money for this collection goes to charity. Moisturising and so pretty and glowy oh my goodness it’s insane.
