Yet the styling remained minimal, allowing the precision of the tailoring to take centre stage.

Lace evening jackets worn open over sheer bodysuits, plunging necklines, and delicate fabrics created a dialogue between strength and sensuality. This balance—power and vulnerability—has become a defining signature of Vaccarello’s Saint Laurent.

Accessories played an equally important role. Oversized aviator sunglasses, crystal statement earrings, glossy belts, and antique-inspired brooches added drama without overwhelming the streamlined silhouettes. The first is a custom Anamika Khanna red two-piece set. She’s an Indian fashion designer with a significant international platform and known for her avant-garde approach to Indian textiles and embroidery. Her clothes have been sold in Harrods and she has dressed the likes of Oprah, the Kapoor sisters and designed a velvet Lehenga which was given as a gift to Lady Gaga.

Encrusted with Swarovski crystals, Shakira’s look is a dazzling piece filled with layers of rouge, crimson, and scarlet, and adorned with the most intricate hand embroidery. “To dress Shakira for this moment is an incredible honour”, Khanna told Voir. 

The asymmetrical design of the skirt follows Shakira’s every movement as she takes over the stage with her powerful dancing during Ojos Así.

Khanna told us that “This look was designed to celebrate her energy, we wanted to bring alive the essence of movement, rhythm, and emotion that defines her performance.” 

Taking over 120 hours to bring to life, this fiery red look embodies the rich heritage of Indian couture while exuding a contemporary, stage-ready allure as “her music, her artistry, and her presence on stage are magnetic” says Khanna.

The second look is brought to you by Gaurav Gupta, celebrity designer and couturier who Voir caught up with. He has dressed the likes of Beyonce, Cardi B, Lizzo, and Megan Thee Stallion on global red carpets such as The Oscars and The Grammy’s, so he is no stranger to crafting a powerful look for a powerful woman.

His design for Shakira is a custom couture Lunar Blue Wolf Gown and an embodiment of her fierce and wolf-like spirit. The lunar blue gown cascades down Shakira’s body; the skirt resembling a fluid water-like rhythm and the ‘armour-like’ metallic breastplate perfectly sculpted to her exact measurements and portraying a wolf motif. “First seen at the

couturier’s Paris Couture Week show Aarohanam SS24, the metal breastplate represents an

evolution of Gaurav Gupta’s experimental couture techniques. The signature sculpting art

meanders throughout the gown, with cascading layers that echo fluid movement, merging

strength with ethereal grace.”

Voir spoke to Gupta and he said the look was designed to embody her essence, power, and vulnerability, and represent the nature of the wolf. “It was clear that the wolf is deeply symbolic to her. It reflects her instinctual energy, fearless spirit, and wild untamed power.”

The gown took over 600 hours to meticulously sculpt, requiring over six artisans to handcraft every detail as it boasts the most intricate craftsmanship. “It reflects her instinctual energy, fearless spirit, and wild, untamed power. That connection resonated with me and the brand, inspiring us to create a design that embodies that essence.” Gupta concluded by telling Voir that “Dressing her for this moment was an absolute honour”.

In a dimly lit room at Jean Paul Gaultier’s legendary Paris headquarters, Ludovic de Saint Sernin opened his debut couture show for the maison with a scream a theatrical harbinger of the breathtaking journey ahead. As waves of anticipation swept through the audience, including Megan Thee Stallion, Jennie Kim, and Rick Owens, the young designer unveiled Le Naufrage “The Shipwreck”, a collection that blended Gaultier’s iconic sensuality with his own raw edge.

De Saint Sernin, the eighth and youngest guest designer to helm Gaultier’s couture line since his 2020 retirement, reimagined the house’s maritime DNA with audacious storytelling. Drawing on Gaultier’s treasure trove of signatures, from cone bras to sailor motifs, the designer delivered a collection steeped in subversive sensuality and unabashed glamour. Inspired by Disney’s The Little Mermaid and a 1997 Gaultier headpiece resembling a ship, de Saint Sernin charted a course through myth, fantasy, and high fashion.

The show opened with a sea-green corseted gown adorned with shimmering scales, evoking a sultry mermaid washed ashore. The narrative unfolded with pieces that told their own stories: gowns resembling ship sails tied with ropes, a headpiece shaped like a ship’s silhouette, and latex ensembles embossed with crocodile textures. Rope-like pleated jersey voile, glimmering tartan, and an astonishing 50,000 brass pearls captured the untamed chaos and opulence of the sea.

For all its theatricality, de Saint Sernin’s collection also honoured the artisanal craftsmanship that defines haute couture. Feathers appeared waterlogged, chiffon was pleated to mimic waves, and traditional techniques merged with bold experimentation. The result? A line-up that felt as nostalgic as it was revolutionary.

Fashion’s most celebrated muses brought Le Naufrage to life on the runway. Paloma Elsesser, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, and Alex Consani embodied characters in the designer’s shipwrecked tale a pirate, a sailor, a siren each captivating the audience with a singular sense of allure.

The designer’s vision extended beyond the runway, capturing the irreverent spirit of Gaultier while injecting his own brand of “sensual but sophisticated, slutty but classy” allure. “I wanted to tell a story that feels like a unique experience, where every look transports you into a new world,” de Saint Sernin said.

Dubbed “Phriendship,” the show celebrated their 30-year creative partnership, blending streetwear roots with Louis Vuitton’s luxury heritage. The atmosphere was elevated by an orchestral soundtrack and 24 vitrines showcasing archival treasures, including Billionaire Boys Club merchandise, Louis Vuittonx Supreme skateboards, and N.E.R.D vinyls. 

The collection draws inspiration from Nigo’s workwear heritage and Pharrell’s streetwear vision, celebrating their shared subcultural influences and blending them with contemporary luxury. The eclectic collection felt like a journey through their creative synergy, elevating workwear silhouettes with premium craftmanship, featuring standout pieces like sleek leather varsity jackets, modern bomber jackets, and crocodile leather trucker jackets dyed to resemble denim. Accessories took centre stage, including the playful lobster-shaped handbag, Damier trunks with Pharrell and Nigo’s portraits, and the versatile “Buttersoft” in multiple colours. 

The earthy palette, crystal embellishments, and Japanese street culture influences highlighted their shared vision of functional yet luxurious design. Celebrities such as Idris Elba, Aaron Pierre, Bradley Cooper, Takashi Murakami and Dylan Wang were among the star-studded audience, underscoring the collection’s cultural significance. Pharrell described the collaboration as “a conversation between the past and future,” solidifying Louis Vuitton’s position as a bridge between tradition and contemporary innovation.

COVERUNCOVERED

The Seoul based fashion brand took centre stage, Juun.J unveiled its Fall-Winter 2025 collection, “COVERUNCOVERED,” at Palais de Tokyo. Designer Jung Wook-jun explored the theme of opposites, blending tailored precision with voluminous silhouettes to create a striking visual dialogue. The collection featured oversized outerwear—parkas, utility jackets, and denim blousons—paired with sleek tailored pieces, such as pencil skirts, skinny pants, and double-breasted suits. This juxtaposition of extravagant and refined elements highlighted the tension between structure and fluidity.

The season’s collection emphasised accessibility wile maintaining its artistic integrity. Materials were a key element of contrast, with glossy leather and shaggy faux fur juxtaposed against thick rib knits and stiff cotton twill. Traditional military and workwear influences were reinterpreted with a softer, more emotional design language. A standout feature was the “melting” motif in denim pieces. Beneath the XXL outer layers, the narrative shifted to sleek pencil skirts and tailored trousers, creating a striking contrast to the voluminous outerwear. The waist became a defining boundary, accentuating the interplay between the expansive and the fitted. As Jung described, the effect was intended to evoke the image of materials melting or dripping down the body.

Jung Wook-jun commented on the growing global influence of K-fashion, noting the exciting fusion of tradition and innovation in this collection. With “COVERUNCOVERED,” Juun.J redefined modern menswear, offering a bold yet sophisticated take on contrasts in design.

A Timeless Fusion of History and Innovation 

Dior Men’s Fall-Winter 2025 collection, presented by Kim Jones at Paris Fashion Week, was a masterclass in modern aristocratic minimalism. Drawing inspiration from Christian Dior’s 1954 “H-Line,” Jones reinterpreted the designer’s legacy through a contemporary lens, mixing elements of masculinity and femininity. The collection featured expertly structured tailoring, including silk faille swing coats in light pink, navy, and jet black, alongside luxurious yet everyday pieces like velvet joggers and sculpted blousons. 

Jones’s designs, though steeped in history, exuded an unmistakable modern allure, with delicate silk blouses draping over collarbones and cashmere knits hugging the shoulders like ballgowns. The show’s mysterious allure was further enhanced by silk ribbons tied around models’ eyes—a nod to a masked ball photo of Christian Dior.

This collection was more than about style; it was about transformation. One coat, which could be converted into a skirt, showcased Jones’s innovative approach to menswear. Classic tailoring merged with couture influences, evident in the embroidered satin shoes, archival patterns, and the dramatic closing pink robe adorned with intricate beadwork. The collection seamlessly fused tradition with modernity, redefining contemporary menswear with a bold yet elegant twist.

Willy Chavarria x Adidas Originals

Willy Chavarria’s Fall-Winter 2025 collection, Tarantula, captivated Paris Men’s Fashion Week with a poignant celebration of identity, resilience, and inclusivity. Held at The American Cathedral, the venue’s spiritual ambiance echoed Chavarria’s Mexican American roots and queer identity, as rose-adorned alters set the stage for a runway show that was both powerful and intimate.

Chavarria’s collection, blending elevated workwear and sportswear with luxurious fabrics like Italian silks and velvet, showcased broad-shouldered suits, oversized bombers, and graphic tees featuring messages on community. The bold, ’90s-inspired silhouettes were complemented by oversized jackets, chinos, and combat boot sneakers, creating a collection that balanced high fashion with streetwear influences. The collaboration with Adidas Originals brought a limited-edition capsule that included iconic footwear like the Jabbar Low and Jabbar Dress sneakers, available through a unique giveaway from a vintage lowrider Chevy Impala cruising through Paris.

A diverse cast of models, including Becky G, Indya Moore, and Paloma Elsesser, embodied the collection’s core values of diversity and subversive masculinity, while J Balvin’s live performance added an electrifying and intimate touch. Notable attendees such as Luka Sabbat, Michèle Lamy, and Ty Dolla $ign, alongside fashion luminaries like Olivier Rousteing, further underscored the significance of the event, showing solidarity with Chavarria’s message of inclusivity and social justice. With Tarantula, Chavarria proved once again that fashion can be a tool for social justice, embracing the power of identity and community.

LA CROISIÈRE

Jacquemus’ Spring-Summer 2025 show, La Croisière, took an intimate turn, setting a new standard for runway presentations. Held in Auguste Perret’s art deco apartment, with only 40 guests in attendance, the setting was understated yet impactful. Simon Porte Jacquemus expressed a desire to strip away artifice, allowing the silhouettes to speak for themselves in the raw, personal atmosphere of the space. The show was underscored by Édith Piaf’s Mon Dieu, paying homage to French musical heritage and adding emotional depth to the experience.

Fashion highlights included double-breasted blazers paired with sharply pleated trousers, minimal coats cinched at the waist, and form-flattering hourglass dresses. The standout was the “naked” gown—a showstopper accentuating the human form with old Hollywood glamour. Footwear featured pointed woven heels and the ongoing collaboration between Nike and Jacquemus, with the Moon Nike Shoes making a statement.

The show’s intimacy was exemplified by Tyla wearing the same dress as Adriana Lima, who walked the runway. In a candid moment, Tyla admitted, “Adriana definitely wore it better; she ate me up,” highlighting the mutual respect between these two women. Celebrity attendees, including Pamela Anderson, Anna Wintour, and Central Cee, as well as models like Adriana Lima, Alex Consani and Christy Turlington, walking the runway added gravitas to an unforgettable show that redefined fashion presentation.

Wooyoungmi 

Wooyoungmi’s Fall/Winter 2025 collection, presented at the Hôtel de Maisons, explored the Korean philosophy of ch’orhak, “how to become wiser,” through a blend of modern utilitarian elegance and poetic formality. The collection emphasised self-reflection and self-discipline, with sharp tailoring juxtaposed against romantic floral motifs that disrupted tradition and added a ceremonial flair. Floral elements extended into casual knitwear, suggesting a shift toward everyday elegance.

The outerwear — trench coats, Crombie coats, and parkas — paid homage to the brand’s heritage, while workwear-inspired structured cargo pockets brought a utilitarian edge. The footwear range, including laced-up derbies and Chelsea boots, evoked ceremonial wardrobe styles, enhancing the collection’s sophisticated versatility. Notably, garments featured “minhwa,” the traditional Korean folk art, offering a tribute to the country’s culture and history.

Celebrities like Lucky Blue Smith, Will Poulter, and Sienna Spiro attended, underscoring the collection’s universal appeal. Wooyoungmi FW25’s fusion of traditional and contemporary elements made a bold statement: elegance is not just about appearance, but about evolving and cultivating one’s identity through fashion.

In a show fit for the gods, Greek designers took to the stage in the 35th annual Athens Fashion Week in a showcase of true glamour and authenticity. As you know, Voir Fashion are always on the hunt for spectacular designers and international talent, and since taking to Athens ourselves, in true Hermes style we are here to tell you who’s on our radar. Staying at the enchanting Académias Hotel, Voir got all the behind-the-scenes access and front row footage of the glorious Greek designers, and with special guest John Richmond, our time was nothing less than celestial.

Daphne Valente

With extravagant pleating at its core, Daphne Valente has expertly displayed her methodical craftsmanship and elegant eye through her show at Athens Fashion Week, dotted with pieces from her AW24 collection among with many new elaborate additions in a melting pot of luxury.

Daphne describes her brand as synonymous with timeless sophistication and refined elegance, along with meticulous attention to detail which shone through in her sculptural pieces and accessories. Hues of haunting magenta, deep burgundy and a collage of earthy greens pierced our senses and made up the collection, with nearly all designs focusing on the classic pleat, Daphne is here to remind us that she did it first!
The devil is in the details, and Daphne knows this all too well. The intricate styling included spiked hairstyles, married perfectly with the pleating, and demure accessories as to not take away from the main aspect on show.

Vassilis Zoulias

Vassilis Zoulias was THE show of the week to talk about at Athens Fashion Week. Held at the iconic Four Seasons Athens, the location speaks for itself as the audience watched a show backdropped with the exquisite Greek scenery. Zoulias’ designs eagerly complimented the location with luminous summer tones capturing both the ethereal and sensual essence of travelling to Greece. And with endless, deep blue tones in the garments creating a lively river running down the runway, none could escape Poseidon’s charm.

Zoulias indulged us in a vast variety of pieces. Every occasion was catered for in his collection ranging from draping maxi dresses, sensuous swimwear, and striking blazer co-ords. Much akin to all Greek fashion powerhouses worthy of a place at Fashion Week, the brand prides itself on craftsmanship and tapestry that would rival Arachne herself, and what Zoulias delivered was nothing short of mesmerising.

Parthenis

The Parthenis show entitled “metamorphoses” delighted audiences with their hooded ensemble of transformative designs all perfectly complimenting eachother. The collection redefines everyday essentials with their fresh, iconic designs, relaxed silhouettes, and harmonious tones that guide us on a journey from dark to light in a modern Promethean gift. Reflecting the evolving identities of those who wear it, the relaxed-fit clothing came in a variety of muted earthy hues and intertwined an almost futuristic vibe mixed with a charming, medieval aesthetic in a true homage to the Greek mythology we all know and love.

Hailing from Athens itself, Parthenis pride themselves on having a timeless look with an easy living feel as they capture the elegant Greek aesthetic. In a light and airy runway, a new take on bohemian was achieved, giving it a simplistic, Greek touch.

Dassios

Dassios struck the runway with a truly thunderous collection, showcasing work filled with gothic tropes and dark motifs. Regal velvets, haunting burgundies and blood-stained wine tones redefined god-like while complementary deep pinks peppered the show in pops of jewels.

With his career originating in the costume jewellery world, Dimitris Dassios made sure to incorporate that as the focal point of the collection as the audience beheld grandiose pendants and extravagant jewels draped across models. Dassios also adorned models’ faces with a fishnet veil, creating a sense of mystery to the collection, giving him a unique angle in his show. Along with a focus on jewellery and smudged makeup; this creates a strong point of blurred identity in his work. By anonymising models’ faces, we are able to inject ourselves into the show and denote a personal effect to the collection.

John Richmond

Honoured guest designer, John Richmond, reintroduced 90s grunge into our lives in his rock n’ roll SS25 collection. The sartorial pieces, mainly in dark colours, illustrated a punk aesthetic with a mixture of garments including grungy tracksuits, preppy leather shorts, distressed jeans, and statement accessories adorned with sparking silver finishes. However, elegance was also apparent in his collection and highlighted and deepened the motifs by contrast. This duality that argues and celebrates creates an effortlessly complex image on the runway, showing us all why he is the guest of honour this year.

The English-born designer, clearly well-versed in showbusiness, illuminated the runway as lights flashed over an industrial style catwalk, capturing the essence of his style as he introduced Greece to his vision.

Mugler: A Dark Floral Fantasy

Casey Cadwallader’s Mugler collection offered a striking contrast to the pastoral themes of previous seasons. Drawing inspiration from his gardening experiences, Cadwallader infused the collection with a sense of menace and complexity.

Cadwallader’s designs featured sharp tailoring, with sculptural details around the hips and shoulders, mimicking the bloom of a flower in a distinctly Mugler fashion.

A standout piece was a black dress that burst into a vibrant turquoise flower made from layers of organza. This season marked a return to Mugler’s roots, balancing drama with sleek, futuristic tailoring while maintaining a darkly romantic edge.

The collection was a visual feast, emphasizing the importance of silhouette and structure while remaining true to Mugler’s roots. With a blend of elegance and edge, Cadwallader proved his ability to recontextualize the house’s legacy while paving the way for the future.

Valentino: The Return of Maximalism

Alessandro Michele‘s return to Valentino after a two-year hiatus was met with excitement and enthusiasm. The show, held at the Dojo de Paris, featured an extravagant array of looks that celebrated the designer’s flair for maximalism. Michele drew inspiration from the house’s archives, blending references from the 60s and 80s while adding his unique twist. Cecilie Bahnsen: Blending Nature and Whimsy

Cecilie Bahnsen‘s latest collection embraced the outdoors, featuring elements inspired by her love of nature. The relationship between fashion and technology is constantly changing. Whether its robot dogs at Coperni or Gucci’s step into the metaverse, these two industries are constantly overlapping. Now, New York is set to host the very first AI Fashion Week. So here is everything we know about the event so far.

AI Fashion Week will be taking place in New York from 20^th April – 21^st April 2023. The event will be backed by Spring Studios and Revolve, working to promote designers that use AI as a tool in their creative process. The event is open to submissions and received over 350 so far, some of which have been teased on Instagram in the build-up to the event. From what we have seen of the shared submissions, the designs have been extremely varied, demonstrating the endless creative possibilities that AI can provide. 

While all the submissions that we have seen so far have been extremely impressive, there will only be three winners that will have their collections made “bringing the digital AI generated into the real world.” These collections will then be able to be bought online, bringing designs from the forefront of technology into people’s real-life wardrobes.

If you are a budding designer using AI, the applications are open until April 15^th, so there is still time to get your entry in. There is a list of guidelines on their website, but as long as you follow these and get your application in before the deadline you stand a chance at winning. 

Now, the fun isn’t just for the designers. If you’re a fashion enthusiast, this is a great opportunity to witness fashion history in the making. While the opening event on April 20^th will only be available to a select few, the space will open to the public on April 21^st, so make sure you get down to Spring Studios if you can.

A new monogram for a new age. Versace’s Fall 2021 collection which has brought about the return of the supermodels, colour, and glamour might just have clinched the spot as the must-see fashion event of the digital Fall 2021 season. 

After a hugely successful Spring 2021 under-water medusa-inspired collection, it was unclear what Versace could do to top their game – so Versace reinvented. If you aren’t aware that Versace has launched a new monogram design, then you haven’t watched the runway. Emblazoned on just about everything; suit linings, purses, shoes, hair – you name it – the new monogram is named La Greca, which is a modern twist on Versace’s own Greek key pattern, but with a trompe l’oeil clutch. If the monogram-filled clothing wasn’t enough for the new design to really hit home with Versace’s audiences, the entire digital runway took place inside of a fully enlarged La Greca structure. 

Flashing between the powerful strutting shots of the models, the intimate close-up shots, and distance shots of vignettes depicting the ‘characters’ own storylines, Versace really made their audience yearn for a post-vaccine, clubbing and glamour enthused life. 

Of the collection, Donatella spoke; “Despite living in a digital era of immediacy, taking time is crucial to form a genuine connection. This is what the present and future look like to me.” 

It’s certainly what we’d like our present and future to look like too. With a seamless blend of lockdown looks to glamorous club-ready outfits, the mixing of supermodels such as Mona Tougaard, Precious Lee, Gigi and Bella Hadid, and Irina Shayk, with bold liners, headscarves and platform matte metallic shoes was the perfect recipe for stirring up excitement about a post-June life, as well as the Versace collection. 

Reduced shots, dimmed lights, silhouettes, and obvious beat changes marked the entrance of each new style of clothing in the maze runway.  In a power move, Gigi Hadid made her return to the runway since the birth of her baby Khai and began the show in a plunge black corset top, monogram lined overcoat accessorised with a red obviously monogrammed bag and gloves complete with chunky platform heel boots. 

The collection shifted from brown and black monogram fall coats, business-chic bags, suits and boots to brightly coloured monochrome club-ready outfits, excitingly debuted by Bella Hadid. From a sea of silhouettes, the music accompanying the former transitioned into a pulsating club-type-beat to match the latter. Revisiting the Versace Fall 1991 collection ten years later, a modern twist was placed on the brightly coloured pink, yellow and red colour-block looks. The ‘91 thigh-high boots were replaced with monogrammed tights and platform metallic matte heels, but the looks kept a similar silhouette. From left (Bella Hadid) to right, the three outfits almost appear to be representing the transition from the ‘91 to the most modern ‘21 silhouette, a fitting tribute embedded in the collection that births the new monogram.

If the collection hadn’t already supplanted lockdown with dreams of vibrant nightlife in a post-pandemic world for the audience, Versace unleashed a chain-link (yes, monogrammed) dress on Bella Hadid to ensure it had by minute eight. Reinforcements in the form of a golden mini dress wearing Mona Tougaard appeared, pushing glamour to the forefront of our screens. 

Versace covered the post-lockdown wardrobe all the way down to the LBD. Gigi Hadid, Irina Shayk, and Precious Lee peer around corners in floor-sweeping extravagant black dresses, lightly embellished with Versace monograms. The mesh, tulle, and embellished black wardrobe swept across the screens in the form of dresses and suits, not leaving behind the classic gold chunky jewellery long associated with Versace. 

Bold eyeliner was splashed across the faces of supermodels in bright neon colours, which complemented the silk headscarf which appeared so consistently. In short, Versace didn’t miss a beat in infusing all aspects of the show with glamorous hope. Leaving audiences unsure if they want to adorn a headscarf, paint brightly coloured eyeliner, or practice strutting in platform boots first, the Versace show captured something exciting. As the camera glanced over the maze, the vignettes of the models appeared to us like insights into the bathroom stalls of the glitziest post-lockdown it-party (and obviously, you need a monogrammed Versace headscarf to get in). 

Monogrammed and monochrome, the Versace Fall 2021 collection was a sharp, poised party, inviting audiences to take a look into the (exciting) future. As soft orchestral music played and the camera panned to a long-range shot of Donatella stood front and centre of the maze atop her models, she stood proudly over a collection that promised what the approaching months may hold, and it looked sensational.

Major brands such as Fendi, Simona Marziali MRZ, and No.21 opened the start of the week, hitting the digital runway with exciting collections that drew in audiences from all over the world via their computer screen.  

Online fashion shows continue to provide a masterclass in the perseverance of a global creative industry. We’ll be recapping below some of our favourite shows from the first day of Milan Fashion Week AW21.

AC9

Italian brand AC9 were one of the first to kick off Milan Fashion Week. Presenting ‘CENSORED’, the brand’s AW21 Collection plays on the themes of sensitivity and censorship with a refusal to be contained by contemporary standards. The collection centres on a colour palette of red, white, black, and pink, and seeks to promote the rebel aesthetic with a video that locates its models amongst suburban streets and motorbikes. Playing on censor bars, the collection uses thin strips of black or pink fabric to create a bar across the chest; this creates a new top that is as striking as it is suggestive. Sheer floor-length dresses layered over sheer underwear are also introduced, again building on the narrative of uninhibited sexuality. Print is minimal, but the show of skin injects the collection with its own brand of excitement. Feathered skirts, fringe coats, and corseted dresses are also highlighted, imbuing the collection with undertones of glamour as well as a rough edginess.

Alessandro Enriquez

The party doesn’t stop with Alessandro Enriquez’s AW21 Collection, which brings social events to the forefront of the designer’s vision. With a “new festa” video reminiscent of a 1980’s house party, the collection draws on the fun we wish we had in 2020 while envisioning the party we’ll have when the pandemic is over. The colour palette of the collection is unrestricted in its approach to vibrant colours, which comes across in the mixing of multiple prints and patterns; layered, clashing, and decorating. Suits in fun patterns are highlighted by a ‘less is more’ styling, forgoing a shirt and highlighting the impact of the print and tailoring. Metallic accents, in the form of silky fabrics and gold threads, also emphasised the partywear vibe. Loose balloon sleeves, shoulder pads, fluffy coats, and full-length skirts round out the collection by highlighting retro aesthetics.

Simona Marziali MRZ

The AW21 Collection from Simona Marziali MRZ highlights comfort through loose silhouettes and knitwear. Mixing a muted colour palette of white, grey, and black with bolder notes of lime and purple, the collection emphasises the versatility of knitted textures. Oversized clothing features prominently, with an emphasis of wide leg trousers and long sleeves as well as sweater vests and cardigans. Flitting between elements of comfort and structure, the collection upholds the WFH aesthetic. Trousers in the collection are loose and often feature stripes zipping down the sides of the leg; a split hem with excess fabric trailing on the floor builds on this more relaxed look. Pattern is also brought into the collection through knitted blocks, creating a chunky check that ensures the inclusion of multiple vibrant colours.

Fendi

Fendi’s AW21 Collection is an exemplary lesson in sophisticated silhouette-building and opulence; from fabric to fit, each look screams a narrative of powerful femininity. Silky fabrics are highlighted to give outfits a greater luminosity, with the metallic sheen also drawing attention to the lightness of the material. Bulky, floor-length coats are the not-so-subtle star of the collection, introducing dramaticism through a variation of prints, padded shoulders, faux fur, fringing, and puffed sleeves. Fendi also offers a new take on the asymmetrical neckline, which translates into an off-the-shoulder, half-wrap top that softens the uneven line. Additionally, shirt cuffs are highlighted in a ribbon-like material that contrasts with the sleeve, either sitting as a band at the wrist or tapering out into a slight bell shape to cover the hands and elongate the line of the arm.

Sara Wong

Sara Wong presents ‘Tartary: Shades of Mongolian’ for their AW21 offering. Exploring traditional Mongolian culture, the collection seeks to incorporate historical staples while mapping out those that are still worn today. Using colours reflecting the preferred shades of Mongolian women, the collection incorporates brown, burgundy, blue, yellow, pink, and lilac. Silhouettes also draw on traditional Mongolian fashion, with an emphasis of dramatic shaping around the shoulders, puffed sleeves, and a cropped cage crinoline to accentuate the waist. Variations in texture are created through the use of multiple fabrics in one outfit, including velvet, lace, knit, and feathers. The addition of heavy beading, headdresses, and body jewellery build on this visual depth, emphasising the collection’s play on light and shape.

No.21

The relatively new label No.21 stays true to Italian designer Alessandro Dell-Acqua’s signature combination of feminine dresses and masculine tailoring, which are infused with a more experimental approach in his AW21 Collection. A key means of injecting excitement into the collection is the alteration of necklines and hemlines to showcase underwear. Whether lace knickers peeking through layered fringe skirts, a flash of a bralette under a cropped jumper, or the full set visible under a sheer dress, the collection invites a more liberal attitude to the boundary between underwear and outerwear. Cut outs are also highlighted, utilising a deconstructed method of panels held in place over the chest by a thin band and emphasising the skin on show. No.21’s collection will be noted for making anyone’s head turn this autumn.
