From opulent, crystal-drenched designs to gothic lace and daring sheer numbers, here are the best-dressed stars of the night. But it didn’t stop there, once the awards wrapped up, the Vanity Fair after-party gave stars the opportunity to push the fashion envelope even further. Here’s a breakdown of the most dazzling looks from both the Oscars and the after-party, along with the electrifying performances that stole the night.

Halle Berry 

In Christian Siriano 

Academy Award winner Halle Berry delivered a lesson in Hollywood glamour, stepping onto the carpet in a Christian Siriano gown that looked like a mosaic of fractured mirror pieces. The silver strapless gown featured a stunning mosaic of fractured mirror pieces, intricately lined with silver sequins and sheer black panels that added a sultry edge. With a structured bodice and a flowing train of cascading sequins, the gown was nothing short of dazzling. Styled by Lindsay Flores, Berry kept the accessories classic with Pomellato diamond jewellery. 

Selena Gomez 

In Custom Ralph Lauren 

Selena Gomez arrived at the Oscars in a custom Ralph Lauren gown dripping in 16,000 hand-sewn glass droplets and Rosemont crystals. The off the shoulder silhouette was airbrushed to create a soft ombré pink effect, giving the dress a dreamlike quality. A true Marilyn Monroe moment modernised for today’s red carpet.

Mindy Kaling 

In Oscar de la Renta 

Mindy Kaling brought botanical elegance in a sheer Oscar de la Renta FW25 gown adorned with intricate metallic leaf embellishments. The halter style dress struck the perfect balance between ethereal and modern, with its delicate detailing catching the light at every turn. Styled by Erin Walsh, Kaling kept her accessories minimal, opting for dazzling diamond stud earrings by Effy that let the gown take centre stage.

Doja Cat 

In Custom Balmain & Swarovski 

Never one to shy away from a bold statement, Doja Cat arrived in a Balmain leopard-print gown inspired by a vintage 1953 Pierre Balmain design. The strapless gown, which took 5,600 hours of hand embroidery by 46 artisans, featured a deep sweetheart neckline and mermaid-style train, proving that couture craftsmanship is alive and well.

But her sartorial moments didn’t end there, later in the night, she took the stage in a dazzling custom Swarovski dress, dripping in over one million crystals as she belted out Diamonds Are Forever in a spectacular James Bond tribute. 

Raye 

In Vivienne Westwood & Versace 

Making her Oscars debut, Raye stunned in a fiery red, floor length Vivienne Westwood gown, perfectly complementing the rich tones of the carpet. The dress featured a dramatic cowl neckline, corseted bodice, and elegant draping, evoking an effortless Marilyn Monroe style glamour. A diamond ruby teardrop necklace and a bold red lip completed the look, proving that classic Hollywood beauty will always have a place on the red carpet.

Later, for her Skyfall performance, Raye switched into a custom Versace tuxedo-inspired gown, exuding sultry sophistication as she captivated the audience with her breathtaking performance.

 Lisa made her first Oscars debut in a custom Mark Gong tuxedo gown, reinterpreting menswear with a dramatic, feminine edge. The look featured sharp tailoring, a red flower pin, and sparkling rings softened the sharpness of the look, making it a seamless balance of power and elegance. 

When she hit the stage for Live and Let Die, she transformed into a vision of elegance in a black embellished gown with red detailing, proving her status as both a fashion and performance powerhouse.

The Vanity Fair after-party is where the stars let loose, swapping refined red-carpet gowns for bolder, more daring looks.

Kim Kardashian made a sticking statement at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar After Party in a custom Balenciaga ball gown that exuded both simplicity and modern sophistication. The structured white corseted dress, reminiscent of bridal couture, embraced a form fitting back that played with contrasting silhouettes. In a rare move, Kardashian skipped jewellery entirely, allowing the architectural beauty of the gown to take centre stage. With her sleek, slicked-back bun and barely-there makeup, she delivered a masterclass in refined yet daring evening glamour, proving that sometimes, less truly is more.

If there was one look that stole the show at the Vanity Fair After Party, it was Zoë Kravitz in a daring custom YSL gown that redefined the meaning of understated seduction. From the front, the sleek, long-sleeved satin dress exuded classic elegance, draping effortlessly to the floor. But from behind, the look took a bold turn with mesh cutouts that exposed her back and bare butt cheeks, making it one of her riskiest fashion moments yet.

Kylie Jenner embraced duality at the 2025 Oscars, first dazzling in a custom Miu Miu gown adorned with crystals and daring cut-outs, before slipping into a corseted black lace Ashi Studio dress for the Vanity Fair after-party. The transition from structured, high-shine glamour to sheer, delicate lace showcased a perfect balance of bold sophistication and sultry allure proving once again that Jenner knows how to command attention on any event. Though she skipped posing for official red-carpet photos, her presence at the event was undeniable, as she attended in support of her boyfriend, Oscar nominee Timothée Chalamet.

Keke Palmer

Keke Palmer, one for the dramatics made a jaw dropping entrance in an archival Versace gown that balanced vintage and sheer daring. Styled by Molly Dickson, the ethereal ivory dress featured a flowing layered skirt and a backless bandeau top, while a sheer bodice revealed her striking rib cage tattoo. Adding a touch of glitz, the gown was accented with a shimmering netted high-neck overlay, giving the illusion of delicate, glittering armor. Embracing her own red-carpet moment, Palmer flaunted the gown’s high slit with a confident Angelina Jolie-style pose, showcasing metallic Jimmy Choo heels. Many of 2020’s breakout trends symbolized traditional elegance with moments where runway fashion was entirely evocative of the 1920s era of glamour and decadence. One instance where this could not be less true is footwear. While ballgowns and opera gloves had their moment on the 2020 runway, the prominence of ugly footwear was one of the season’s most capturing trends.

The humble wellington boot stormed the 2020 runway, featured in collections from Dior, Bottega Veneta and Prada to name a few. Welly boots have been given a high fashion makeover trampling both on the runway and expectations. Gone is the archetype of a khaki green or navy blue Hunter boot, muddied by the Glastonbury fields accompanied by a Boo-Hoo chic festival dress, and in its place are boots designed by the likes of Christian Dior, in classic black and whites, perfect for any occasion, and in bolder tones of pink.

The term welly boot amongst words like Prada, runway and high fashion feels utterly incongruous, but the ugly footwear trend is garnering prominence with every changing season. AW19 saw the rise of the turbo heavyweight boot and Fila Disruptors. The incredibly popular and meme-ified trainer boosted Fila’s footwear sales by 60% in 2019 and according to Depop there was a 583% increase in searches for the shoe in the UK. Ugly shoes are everywhere from GenZers to fashion editors and street style icons.

And the trend is showing no sign of slowing down – summer 2020 has seen ugly footwear become even more ubiquitous and nowhere is this more apparent than in the rise of the dad sandal. Searches for ‘dad sandals’ have increased by 2800% according to the app LiketoKnow and are being produced everywhere from Chanel to Teva to Doc Marten, dad sandals are one of this year’s most surprising and prominent trends. For me, the dad sandal symbolises one of the delicate and incredibly valuable elements of fashion and style that is too often overlooked in favour of the ever changing trends, which is the borrowing of something familiar. The donning of a boyfriend’s shirt or of a dad’s jumper adds a certain je ne sais quoi to the monotonous every day of Zara dresses and Joni jeans. The typically ugly dad sandal which evokes memories of socks stuffed into leather, sweaty holidays and sunburn, lends this quality perfectly. The rise of these footwear trends shows that now more than ever there is pleasure in both the difference and breaking the mold.

Perhaps the most significant aspect of this trend is not pertaining to style or aesthetic, but rather to comfort. So many of us have spent the last few months in sweatpants, without makeup and braless, embracing looking and dressing more naturally in the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic. Like with many other things, it is yet to be reflected how the pandemic will change how we dress, but it seems unlikely that women are going to want to shrink and contort themselves in the ways we have become used to. The ugly footwear trend shows that now more than ever, gone are the days of stilettos and bleeding feet and in its place are shoes that are paving the way towards modernity, comfort and an understanding of modern womanhood.

The lights, music and heels are off as New York Fashion Week has drawn to a close and London Fashion Week is going steady. Smitten from our slice of designer heaven, our eyes definitely locked on a few subtle beauty trends so far that you might be seeing in the colder months ahead.

Here’s the lowdown of the best beauty influences sold fresh off the runway. Grab your non-slip eyeliner and favourite concealer because this autumn/winter is all about a fresh face, radiant base and eyes for those with dramatic taste.

Fresh, clean with a natural sheen skin:

If there is one pointer to take from the scenes at this season’s NYFW, it’s that sometimes a blank canvas is the best canvas. Less is more. Whilst splashes of colour featured in places – check out the use of coral lids from Monse or Self Portrait’s neon sweeps – what appeared to be most consistent was the glass skin, no-makeup-makeup, glowy, dewy base that continues to take the front and centre of current beauty trends. The Carolina Herrera show was nothing this year without its highlight and note the focus on what appeared to be liquid, iridescent highlighting balms rather than a harsh powder finish. There is no such thing as too much when it comes to creating your outer glow, and sweeping product above the brow onto the top of your cheekbones, creeping it into the forehead is the best method to ensure that the light bounces just right.

Lengthened liner:

Vera Wang and Rag and Bone

Is 2020 the year winged eyeliner makes a comeback into the mainstream? Vera Wang gave us our serving of gothic drama and sky really was the limit when it came to stretching black shadow and liner to the very brow bone. Yet Vera Wang wasn’t the only designer to come through with the dark-eye drama. It was all about geometric eyes and lengthened edges at the Rag and Bone show, where exaggerated black liner gave us black swan brilliance.

Deep rose lips:

Oscar de la Renta, Rodarte and Marc Jacobs

Red is the colour of love and this valentine’s day at NYFW did not disappoint with brands such as Oscar de la Renta, Marc Jacobs and Rodarte, using deep plums, dull roses and electric reds across their makeup palettes. Whilst usually a dramatic statement look, the red lips were subdued and brought life to the otherwise simplistic and minimalist makeup styles.

Of course, we cannot forget about hair and the middle-part, the low pony was consistent amongst runway looks. Loose grips and a low front hold covering the ears was the style used across designers, Carolina Herrera to mention one, for a relaxed yet sleek finish. Team this ‘do with dramatic earrings, a light touch of concealer and foundation after an intense skincare routine and you couldn’t be more NYFW if you tried.
