To understand the greatness of Missy you need to understand in her song Work it she literally Put that thing down, flipped it and reversed it. Her Music although R&B comes with her music videos which belong in a genre of their own. A Missy Elliot video has become a term of description in concept, that alone is a testament to the greatness that is Melissa Arnette Elliott.

The music video directed by Danielle Russel begins with Missy as a bronze statue coming to life with other figures around her in dance to a hypnotic beat. The music video featured this scene then cuts to girls in neon 80s step aerobics suits twerking and throwing it all the way back. In Missy Elliot fashion the song featured bright backgrounds and comic book annotations with the song title Cool Off. It wouldn’t be a Missy Elliot video if it didn’t feature something entirely out of the realm and that is what we got when Missy spit all her bars in the form of a roly-poly toy.

This song and the whole iconology ep show that even after Missy has earned her stripes and has been recognised as an iconic artist, Queen and legend, she is showing no signs of slowing down in her music, not that anything could slow her down.
