]]> 2023 is set the be the year of Miley. She has started the year off strong with her release ‘Flowers’, the first single from her upcoming album Endless Summer Vacation set for release  in March. Cyrus announced the single via Instagram with a caption that read “NEW YEAR, NEW MILEY, NEW SINGLE. FLOWERS JANUARY 13.” And so, ahead of what appears to be a Miley renaissance, here is a look back on some of her best looks so far.

Her Vintage NYE Looks

Yet again, confirming that 2023 is going to be her year, Miley Cyrus rang in the New Year with her annual NYE party in a variety of vintage looks. One of the standout looks was the sparkling asymmetric mini dress from Bob Mackie’s AW2002 collection. However, our personal favourite was the green and orange floor-length Versace gown from SS2006. The ethereal look was elegant and sophisticated but paired with Miley’s beachy waves perfectly matched the singer’s free-spirited personality.

EVERY Gucci Campaign

There are very few celebrity and designer pairings that are as perfect as Miley and Gucci. The moment that Miley was announced as an ambassador for Gucci Beauty’s Flora perfumes, we knew that something beautiful had been created. Both Gucci and Cyrus are true maximalists and Gucci has a retro feel that fits in with Miley’s persona seamlessly. Because of this carefully curated alignment, every Gucci campaign featuring Miley presents us with the most impeccable looks that are not only fashionable but also let Miley’s personality shine through.

When She Looked Like an Absolute Rockstar at Glastonbury

Nevermind the trend of dressing like a rockstar’s girlfriend, Miley Cyrus has been dressing like the rockstar she is for years now, and we are here for it! And taking centre stage at Glastonbury in skintight leather trousers, knee high boots covered in buckles, a white cropped vest and dripping in jewellery confirmed that she is THAT girl.

Pink Feathers at Miley Cyrus Presents Stand by You

When Miley Cyrus does a Pride event, you just know that the looks are going to be good. The show was packed with elaborate looks, each one as loud and proud as the last. Our personal favourite was the bright pink feathered Jenny Packham dress that Miley wore on stage and in promotional photos.

All Leather at the iHeartRadio Music Festival

Another look from Miley’s rocker chick era, Cyrus took to the stage at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in an all-leather ensemble, even down to the gloves. The look matched her performance perfectly which was energetic yet grungy. The comparison of this look against her more 70s inspired pastel looks just show that Miley truly can do it all.

Met Gala 2018

Miley’s 2018 Met Gala look is one that will go down in the history books. The low draping Stella McCartney gown was paired with a dainty cross necklace sitting at the base of the cowl neck tying into the theme of “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination”. But this gown was not just a party in the front, it also had a beautiful and daringly low back.

THAT YSL Dress

Potentially our favourite Miley fashion moment of all time was the sparkling Saint Laurent gown that she wore to the 2019 Vanity Fair Oscars Party. The gown shimmered from head to toe, had a delicate plunge neckline that knotted at the waist and a thigh high split, the combination of all of these elements worked to create not only the perfect dress but the perfect dress for Miley, classic yet edgy.

Pop sensation Miley Ray Cyrus practices self-love through work-out, swim, and dance in her new video for single ‘Flowers’. The video premiered on Friday 13th of January and already has a hold on the world with it trending number one on YouTube for music and over 39M views.

The video starts with Miley strutting across a bridge in a pair of boxy black sunglasses and a vintage Yves Saint Laurent satin gold hooded top and skirt look that matches the LA sunset behind her. She pulls her bleach blonde locks up into a chic messy updo and shimmies her way up the hills to her decadent house where she strips down into lingerie and takes a dive into her pool displaying her adorable tats. As the chorus hits she works out in her garden showing her mental and physical strength as she completes rope workouts and bungee burpees with a triumphant snarl on her face. Miley then hops in the shower before rocking a sexy slim black suit with slicked-back wet hair as she walks through the clean white halls of her minimalism mansion. The song ends with the star dancing like there’s no tomorrow – it’s bound to make you want to join in too.

The Gold Star Attire

Slay the metallic trend that will be everywhere this year Miley style and look solid gold in this gleaming top and skirt fit.

Director of the video is model, photographer, and filmmaker Jacob Bixenman, who has worked with Helmut Lang, Mark Ronson, Paco Rabanne, and Troye Sivan and in the past. He also worked with Miley on the Attention singles music videos last year.

There’s speculation amongst fans as to whether the lyrics in the song are a dig at the singer’s ex-husband Liam Hemsworth with whom Miley had an on-again off-again relationship. Fans online have pointed out that the single, in which Miley tells the world she can “love herself better”, dropped on Liam’s 33rd birthday. Some fans have also theorised that the lyrics in the first verse of the song, “We were right til we weren’t/ Built a home and watched it burn”, are alluding to Miley and Liam’s home in Malibu that was destroyed by California wildfires in 2018. Finally, the lyrics in the chorus ‘Flowers’ are almost a direct response to Bruno Mars’ ‘When I was Your Man’, which details the regret at the deterioration of a relationship due to lack of care and consideration from the man. Ouch!

‘Flowers’ is the first single released from the multi-platinum-selling recording artist’s eighth studio album Endless Summer Vacation which is set to release on the 10th March this year. As evident from the video for ‘Flowers’, the album is Miley’s love letter to the city she lives in: Los Angeles. From the album’s title we can expect some pop hits that be ideal for our summer playlists.

The album follows Miley’s glam rock-inspired album Plastic Hearts released in 2020. Plastic Hearts was a knockout for the singer with it debuting at number two on the Billboard 200 and the singles ‘Prisoner’ and ‘Midnight Sky’ topping the charts in several countries.
