]]> All our favourite celebs recently jetted off to France for the Cannes Film Festival. This year’s red carpet gave us some of the best couture, makeup looks and hairstyles of the year. We absolutely loved the creativity and innovation of the makeup artists, so here’s our breakdown of the best beauty on the Cannes 2023 Red Carpet.

The stunning model strutted onto the carpet sparkling in silver. The natural base and nude lips made sure all the focus stayed on the glittery cut crease eye look. She went for the wet hair look, which perfectly merged all of the other elements of the look.

Longoria’s barely-there dress captured everyone’s attention, but her makeup was the real star for us. The pretty peachy look suited the outfit perfectly, from the nude lip to the pink blush and, of course, the bold winged eyeliner, that tied everything together – all created using L’Oréal’s gorgeous collection.

Let’s just say pink is officially Grothe’s colour because she killed it this time. The colour gave her a gorgeous radiant glow that complemented her outfit perfectly. All the shades of pink made for a stunning coordinated look – yet again created with L’Oréal Paris.

Harvey’s luminous look beautifully contrasted her bright red maxi dress which completely caught us off guard. The stripped-back look consisted of a natural dewy base, bronzy eyeshadow and some sheer lip gloss. We loved how simple and sophisticated this look was.

Dunn brought back the subtle smokey liner look. The simple eye makeup and dramatic lashes really defined her eyes and brought them to life – keeping them as the main focus of this look. Her cheekbones were perfectly sculpted with a bit of bronzer and her lips were done up with a bit of pink nude lip gloss. The whole look was completed with a dewy setting spray which gave that astonishing glow.

Looking gorgeous in gold, Rodríguez stepped out onto the Cannes red carpet. From the perfectly airbrushed base to the rosy cheeks to the subtle shimmer on her eyes, there’s nothing would change about this look. Rodríguez’s makeup artist, Fer Martinez, created the perfect look to complement her dress, without taking the attention away from it.

Anderson stunned us with her outfit, but the cherry on top was the slicked-back low bun and perfectly styled edges. This style complemented her features without taking attention away from the gorgeous geometric dress. It was sleek, simple and sexy – a vibe we’re absolutely living for.

It seems low buns are the new thing as Neelam Gill jumped on the bandwagon as well. However, Gill went for a more relaxed look, which perfectly matched her stunning blush dress. The loose strands beautifully framed her face and made the look feel complete.

Sporting this unique look, styled by Ross Kwan, Jama turned everyone’s heads. The creative hairdo set the bar pretty high for the event and had fans gushing over her on social media. Styled with Bumble and bumble and KeraCare, we know this look must’ve taken hours – hats off to Kwan for his innovative vision. 

Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa was serving pure elegance on the red carpet. The messy bun and long fringe gave her a slightly mysterious charm. Her hair seemed to mirror the unique cutouts of her dress, making for an overall cohesive look. 

Sophie Hadjipanteli

This unique look, created by Joe Kelly, made Sophia Hadjipanteli absolutely shine on the red carpet. From the bejewelled dress to the flawless makeup to the incredible updo, we didn’t know where to look. All we can say is, this is a look for the history books. 

Alice Abdel Aziz

A high ponytail can absolutely transform an entire, look and Alice Abdel Aziz’s red carpet look is proof of that. The updo paired with the dazzling bodysuit and glamorous cape made up one of our favourite looks from the whole event. High ponytails seem to be making a huge comeback, and after seeing this look, everyone’s gonna be whipping their hair back up into a nostalgic 2000s high ponytail.

The neat bun alone on Bodi was enough to catch our attention, but the flower decorations made it just that much better. The accessory added a bit of grace and fragility to the overall look. Elle Fanning

The actress always looks classic on the red carpet, and this Alexander McQueen dress was no exception. The dress, which was custom-made by creative director Sarah Burton, featured a metallic bustier adorned with diamantés and crystals. This then gave way to a flowing nude tulle skirt with a long train. She accessorised with stacked chokers, bracelets, and rings from Cartier. 

Fan BingBing

Fan Bingbing never shys away from a show-stopping Cannes dress, this year opting for a graphic bandeau look. The Christopher Bu gown featured sequinned bamboo trees and embroidered tigers. She complemented the green sequins with large emerald earrings and a dramatic emerald ring. 

Helen Mirren

Oscar-winning actress Helen Mirren debuted her brand new blue hair at the Cannes 2023 opening ceremony. She matched her hair to her dress, wearing a baby blue v-neck gown from Del Core featuring long sleeves, ruching, and a floor-length train. She finished the look with a matching blue manicure, hexagonal drop earrings, a diamond choker, and a fan reading ‘#WorthIt’.

The fashion influencer did not come to play, matching the carpet in this monochromatic modern take on a suit. The red look, from Homolog Paris, consisted of an embellished red blazer with a long ruffled hem, red suit trousers, and classic black shoes. He tied it all together with impeccable jewellery choices, like a statement diamond and ruby necklace and diamond ring from Fred Jewellery.

Our favourite nepo baby looked chic on the red carpet in this Saint Laurent FW23 look. She wore a sheer lace tank top with a see-through black pencil skirt, tights, and pointed-toe heels. She accessorised with a gold buckle belt, black leather gloves, a gold wrist cuff, and large gold hoop earrings.

The YSL ambassador was, of course, repping the brand’s FW23 collection and giving off major stealth wealth vibes in this simple but timeless look. She wore these skinny black cigarette pants with a pearl silk roll-neck blouse featuring a hooded open back. She tied it together with a classic metal belt, black slingback heels, and a red lip.

Adriana Lima turned heads in this bright black and yellow velvet dress by Tamara Ralph Couture. The simple bandeau dress was transformed with a yellow asymmetric train that wrapped over one shoulder and around her waist. She accessorised with a diamond bracelet and earrings from Chopard and wore her hair in a slicked-back bun.

Another former VS angel, Alessandra, looked insane in this bedazzled hooded gown. The deep red gown is vintage Ellie Saab room 2005 and shows off her flawless figure with a slim fit and mini train. She embraced the sparkle and added a chunky statement necklace and dangling earrings from Pomellato.

Wearing Greek label Celia Kritharioti for the Indiana Jones premiere, this look embodied the glamour of the Cannes film festival. Her eye-catching gown featured an embellished bustier top with a neckline made up of stacked diamond chokers, long open-shoulder sleeves, an open back, and a long, sleek train.

The Blackpink singer looked elegant in this timeless black gown from Yves Saint Laurent. A far cry from some of the over-the-top looks we see on the red carpet, the silk slip dress featured a ruffled hem and a scarf thrown casually over one shoulder. The understated look was completed with slick-back hair and dainty sapphire earrings. 

Ester Expósito

Ester wore this stunning Versace SS23 dress with gold and silver embellishments, black lace detail, and lace-up cutouts for the Black Flies premiere. She matched the glittering details with chunky diamond rings, earrings, and an ornate necklace from Messika. 

Araya Hargate

The Thai actress wowed in this mesh ensemble from the Jean Paul Gaultier SS22 couture collection. The outfit consists of a red, long-sleeved, draped mesh dress with a long train over a bodysuit with burgundy, nude, and pink stripes and a corset top. She paired it with nude heels, Bulgari jewellery, and a red lip.

For the Indiana Jones premiere, the Chinese actress wore this gorgeous ornately embroidered black and gold halter dress with leg slits and cut-out sides from Laurence Xu Couture. She stuck to the gold and black theme with black stilettos, a black manicure, a gold clutch, a gold bracelet, and gold drop earrings.

Former Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach looked amazing in this bold red custom Mark Bumgarner gown. The metallic sequin dress featured an asymmetric neckline, a cinched waist, and a structured train. She kept it simple with timeless silver earrings, rings, and bracelets from APM Monaco.

Known for her extravagant red carpet style, Aishwarya did not let us down! Her unconventional gown from Sophie Couture featured an expansive train, an oversized black bow, and a large silver padded hood that was described as a ‘sculptural metal masterpiece’ by the designer.

The beloved actress looked timeless in this tailored outfit. She paired a summery white shirt with a white linen suit, layering on a beige linen blazer and completing the look with brown leather sandal wedges.

Princess Diana, 1987

For the 40th Cannes Film Festival, Princess Diana walked the red carpet wearing this iconic Catherine Walker baby blue tulle dress and scarf. The dress was inspired by Grace Kelly’s character in the Hitchcock film To Catch a Thief. She complemented the colour with different shades of blue stones in her rings, earrings, and bracelet.

Madonna, 1991

While the idea of wearing lingerie on the red carpet is hardly scandalous in 2023, it was Madonna who helped pave the way for trends like wearing no pants and naked dresses. Thanks to the help of Jean-Paul Gualtier, Madonna and her cone bra took over the Cannes red carpet for a screening of her own film, In Bed with Madonna.

For AmfAR’s Cinema Against Aids benefit in 2001, Paris wore this backless low-rise halter dress with diamond embellishments spelling out different celebrities’ autographs. To match, she wore a bedazzled beret, stacked diamond jewellery, and body gems. She also had diamantés on her eyes and went for an old Hollywood makeup look with a red lip, winged liner, and beauty mark.

Green is a colour that few people can pull off, but Lupita owned it. This green Gucci number featured pleated chiffon, a cape, and hand-painted embroidered flowers. She made sure we got to see it from every angle as she twirled on the red carpet.

All eyes were on Charlize Theron in this bright canary yellow strapless silk gown. The slim-fitting bustier dress, from Christian Dior, featured a long tulle train and showed off her figure perfectly.

Bella Hadid, 2016

Of course, Bella’s iconic red dress had to be featured on this list. Bella stunned everyone in 2016 with this red Alexander Vauthier dress that fit her like a glove. The silk v-neck dress featured spaghetti straps, a cinched waist, and an extremely high leg slit. She paired it with minimal jewellery and classic black strappy heels.

Aishwarya Rai, 2017

No stranger to a show-stopping dress, Indian actress Aishwarya looked like an actual princess in this dress at the 70th Cannes Film Festival, leading to it being nicknamed the Cinderella dress. The off-the-shoulder gown, by Michael Cinco Couture, featured a dramatically huge tulle skirt and dainty leaf embroidery to add detail to the icy blue body.

Isabelle Huppert, 2022

The French actress put a spin on the timeless and elegant looks traditionally seen at the festival, instead opting for this bold green morph suit dress from Balenciaga. It was a Marmite situation for the actress, with some people loving it and some hating it. We think it’s super cool and edgy, and more power to her for going against the norm!

Eva Longoria thrilled us with two fantastic outfits. To the “Top Gun: Maverick” premier, she wears an
off-sleeve A-line dress in disco-ball style. Her metallic dress doesn’t need many accessories, so she
styled her bold look with simple earrings and simple makeup.

Tuesday night, she was killing it with a sheer dress with spaghetti straps by Alberta Ferretti. She
styled her see-through dream dress with dark eye makeup, black heels, and a black silk choker.

Leonie Hanne

The neon trend is everywhere now. So, it is no surprise that German fashion blogger Leonie Hannes
attended the Cannes Film Festivals in a custom tulle gown by Nicole + Felicia in hot pink. Her dress is
short in the front and has a longer skirt underneath that only covers the back. The deep neckline and
side cut out add sexiness to her princess outfit. This dress is every girl’s dream!

Loujain Adada

Sage Green is still one of the trendiest colours of 2022. Loujain Adada demonstrates that in her Azzi
and Osta gown. The see-through top and tulle gloves add sexiness to her puffy dress. Her slickedback ponytail and minimal makeup combined with Chopard jewellery create a super chic and
glamourous look.

Liza Koshy

At the Cannes Film Festival, Liza Koshy is in silver from head to toe. Glamorous Old Hollywood, wavy
hair and Euphoria-inspired eye-makeup reflect 2022 fashion and beauty. Her bodycon spaghetti
straps dress is covered in pearls and gems. Sexy gets it because of the head-turning plunging
neckline.

Josephine Skriver

The Danish model Josephine Skriver is wearing Tony Ward Couture. While her hair, makeup and
accessories are simple, her voluminous black and white gown is an eye-catcher.

Didi Stone looked like a goddess in her custom Roberto Cavalli. The silky skirt hugs her curves and
contrasts the gold rose, barely-there netted top.

Helly Shah is shining brighter than her dress on her first red carpet experience. She stole everyone’s
show in her sparkly green outfit with a plunging neckline. A sheer cape covered in gems and
sparkling jewellery topped off her perfect look.

Pooja Hegde

The ivory Maison Geyanna Youness ball gown covered in feathers made Hegde Pooja look like a
princess! The actress kept it simple and styled her grandiose gown with a sleek ponytail that goes
down her back, and drop earrings.

Famed Pose actress Mj Rodriguez wore a hooded Etro gown on the Cannes red carpet for the opening ceremony premiere of Annette. The gown, which also featured a draped low cut back, flowed to the ground with long alluring lines which beautifully highlighted her poise and grace.

The legendary director is the Jury President for the 74th Cannes Festival, and he of course has shown up for the job with his signature blend of style. He arrived at the opening ceremony decked out in a glorious Louis Vuitton double-breasted magenta suit (paired with his signature matching glasses, of course). He wore his trademark sneakers as well — a custom pair made by Nike with his face adorning the shoes, mixed in his famed shade of purple. In place of a tie, he wore a necklace to finish off the look.

Maggie Gyllenhaal

Maggie Gyllenhaal has a fashion sense known to blend unexpected elements of cool with flowing fashion lines, and her Cannes red carpet look of course did not disappoint. The actress (who is a juror at this year’s festival) wore a champagne Hedi Slimane for Celine gown and cape that felt reminiscent of the height of 70s disco Grecian glamour. She topped off the look with bold Chopard diamond hoops and a sapphire ring, finishing it off with Jimmy Choo heels.

The Elite actress never fails when it comes to looking amazing in flowing lines — a point she proved again when she added a daring vein of retro glam to the Cannes red carpet by wearing this fabulous violet Etro look. She matched the purple look with emerald-toned Bulgari jewels to add even more beautiful drama to the look.
